Direct admission
The first thing to keep in mind is that, if you want to take MBBS admission in any private medical college you must qualify for the NEET-UG entrance exam.
I would like to clearly tell you that there is nothing as a direct admission from the year 2017. Direct admission can only be done if the candidate has registered and attended the centralized counselling procedures. Yes, it is officially declared by the high court even for PG medical and dental admissions too. You can read the news given in the Hindu newspaper.
In 2017, many seats of candidates who had taken direct admission without attending the counselling procedures had been cancelled.
The students who are able to secure high marks in NEET are able to secure seats in the private medical colleges through counselling whereas the students who have just qualified or have secured lower marks than 250 have to take seats through either Management quota or NRI quota.
15% of the seats in private medical colleges have a different fee structure other than normal prescribed fees. The seats with this fee structure can be referred to as Management quota seats or NRI seats.
The fee structure for these quota seats also ranges from 20 lakhs per annum to 45 lakhs per annum depending upon the colleges. Students having lower NEET scores but qualified and desirous to study MBBS should start preparing themselves as soon as they are aware of their NEET scores.
